Mt Carmel Dual Meet

Hello nighthawk families and fans,

Happy Friday! Yesterday we had our league dual meet against Westview High School. We had some great performances across the board, and the Varsity Girls were able to pull off a win 94-38 against Mt Carmel. Ultimately the Varsity boys came up short with the final score being 84 to 52. It was a hard-fought meet and we are hopeful the boys will make a comeback at our next league meet. Find the full meet results here and keep reading for some highlights.

Parent Donations

As you can imagine, it takes a lot to put together a program of our size and we are asking for a $200 donation per family who is able to do so. This helps off set the cost of equiptment, travel, coaching stipends, meet entry fees, etc. Any donations are greatly appreciated, we also encourage you to find out about company matching programs that many businesses offer to further your impact. Find information to donate here. You can also write a check Payable to Del Norte High School. Write "Track" and your athletes name in the memo.

Athletes of the Meet

We want to take the time to highlight a couple of athletes who had spectacular performances at our last meet.

High Jump -

  • Kloe Taylor (12) improved jump after jump all the way to a new PR to win the meet. Kloe has a ton of raw talent in this event with so much potential. Her jump of 5"‘0 is tied for 3rd all time in Del Norte History

Sprints -

  • Oliver Heintz (11)  put together a great race in the 100 and 200, setting new PRs in both and stepping up to help the team in the 4x400.

Jumps -

  •  Alex Kumar (11) jumped a 40'3" in his second triple jump competition of the season, one of the best marks in Del Norte history.

  • Chloe Kang (9) just after finishing his 400 he came back and did what he needed to do in long jump to secure a 2nd place finish.

  • Chris Guzman (10) tried a new technique with his long jump mechanics rather than doing the same old thing. These are the types of developments we want to be seeing at this point in the season to drive big improvements.

Hurdles -

  • Sophie larose (10) PRd by over a second in the 100 hurdles to get 2nd over all, excited to see her continue to succeed!

  • Dean Phillips (11) set two big PRs in both hurdles, from 18.76 to 17.84 in the 110 hurdles and 45.81 to 44.14. I know he has more in him to push these times even further.

Distance -

  • Tristan Harpester (11) ran fearlessly against MC where he set the tone early, which ultimately led to a 6 second lifetime best of 2:02 in the 800. He also came back in the 3200 and 4x400 to help the team when we needed him.

  • Lilah Enyedi (9) continued to showcase her talent with another big lifetime best of 11:17 in the 3200, moving up to 3rd all time in Del Norte History in only her 3rd performance ever.

Throws

Shay Lacny (10) Shay has had a really good string of meets recently and continued that with a PR of 22’ 3” in shot to take 2nd place.

Congratulations to all of those athletes on a great meet. We would like to take the time to recognize those athletes whose performance landed them onto our top 10 all-time lists. Because they did not have a wind-gauge at this meet, our sprinters and jumpers performances cannot be counted towards school records and all-time performances. We know they have it in them and will be able to even surpass these marks in future competitions!

  • Paige Echsner (10) - Girls 800: 2nd All-Time with a time of 2:17.37

  • Kloe Taylor (12) - Girls High Jump: (tied) 3rd All-Time with a jump of 5’

  • Lilah Enyedi (9) - Girls 3200: 3rd All-Time with a time of 11:17.53

  • Kaylee Tan (12), Savannah Jones (12), Kaylee Rebugio (9), Zoe Gross (9) - Girls 4x100: 5th All-Time with a time of 50.13

  • Addison Shannon (9) - Girls 1600: 6th All-Time with a time of 5:16.05

Each of these athletes have made a great impact on our program, making themselves known as some of the best in their event since our school opened in 2009. We look forward to witnessing their continued success as the season goes on.
