Rancho Bernardo Dual Meet

Hello nighthawk families and fans,

Happy Friday! Yesterday we had our first league meet against Rancho Bernardo. We had some great performances across the board, but ultimately came up short with the Varsity Boys final score being 56 Del Norte to 80 Rancho Bernardo, and Varsity Girls final score being 55 Del Norte to 81 Rancho Bernardo. It was a hard-fought meet, and we are looking to bounce back at our next league meet against Westview on Thursday. Find the full meet results here and keep reading for some highlights.

Athletes of the Meet

We want to take the time to highlight a couple of athletes who had spectacular performances at our last meet.

Throws -

Sprints -

  • Kaylee Rebugio (10) her debut in the sprints was spectacular, running a 64.23 in the 400m and a 28.12 in the 200m. She got 1st place in both events for JV, and had a very impressive day overall. It was her first meet ever too!

  • Nathan Sallee (11) ran an extremely tough 400m that ended with him winning the JV race in a photo finish and a PR of almost 3 seconds with a time of 57.70.

Jumps -

  • Cara Burns (11) cara showed big gains in long jump with a foot and a half improvement over her previous mark. She is looking more confident in her approach and it’s paying off. She is now at the top of the leaderboard for JV Girls

Pole Vault -

  • Paige Echsner (10) - Paige took 1st place with a new lifetime best in the pole vault, going 12’0.

  • Chloe Tseng (11) - had a big PR vaulting 11’0 and taking 3rd place at the meet.

Distance -

  • Sophia Tang (10) led the charge for our girls JV where she won both the 1600 and 800. She saw massive personal bests where she improved by 23 seconds in both 1600 and the 800.

  • David Xie (12) had a big reday against RB where he dropped 8 seconds off his 800 PR. Then continued his success by cutting 20 seconds off his personal best in the 3200.

Congratulations to all of those athletes on a great meet. We would like to take the time to recognize those athletes whose performance landed them onto our top 10 all-time lists.

Each of these athletes have made a great impact on our program, making themselves known as some of the best in their event since our school opened in 2009. We look forward to witnessing their continued success as the season goes on.
